Irvine Animal Care Center's Home for the Holidays Pet Adoption Fair
Single-day volunteers ages 15 and older are needed in conjunction to assist with the Irvine Animal Care Center's Home for the Holidays Pet Adoption Fair.
In addition to adoptable pets, the Home for the Holidays Pet Adoption Fair also features dozens of pet-related vendors, gourmet food trucks, a silent auction, low-cost microchipping on-site, and an opportunity drawing.
Shifts are available the day before and day of the event. Depending on the selected shift or shifts, Volunteers will assist with setting up tents, tables, chairs, fencing, signs, and other items throughout the center. Volunteers will work in small groups to assist vendors and rescues in moving items to and from booths, as well as setting up various items throughout the event. Volunteers may assist in directing pedestrian traffic; promoting the silent auction, opportunity drawing, or visitor surveys; and helping direct visitors with dogs away from the cat area.
Below is a summary of the avaiable shifts:
SATURDAY EVENT SET UP
- Date and Time: Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 9 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and/or 12-3:00 p.m.
- Shift Description: Volunteers assist with setting up tents, tables, chairs, fencing, signs, and other items throughout the center. Volunteers need to be able to pull, lift, and carry up to 30 pounds.
EVENT LOAD IN
- Date and Time: Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 6:45-10:00 a.m.
- Shift Description: Volunteers work in small groups to assist vendors and rescues groups bring items from vehicles to booth locations. Volunteers may also assist with set up of tents, tables, chairs, banners, fencing, signs, and other items throughout the center. This is a fast-paced, standing position. Volunteers must be able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 30 pounds and be comfortable transporting animals in crates or carriers.
EVENT SUPPORT
- Date and Time: Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 9:45 a.m.-12 p.m. and/or 11:45 a.m.-2 p.m.
- Shift Description: Volunteers support the event as necessary. Duties may include helping to direct pedestrian traffic; promoting the silent auction, opportunity drawing, or visitor surveys; and helping direct visitors with dogs away from the cat area. This is a standing and walking position. Volunteers must be able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
EVENT LOAD OUT
- Date and Time: Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 2-5 p.m.
- Shift Description: Volunteers work in small groups to break down the event. Volunteers assist with putting away tents, tables, chairs, banners, fencing, signs, and other items throughout the center. This is a fast-paced, standing position. Volunteers must be able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
